HOW TO: HTML Markup Your Guest Article for MyBlogGuest Articles Gallery (Video)

Category Videos Posted by

Today’s video is yet another entry to our current spring screen-casting contest: One of our PRO users is sharing his way of HTML formatting the guest article for our Articles Gallery.

We ask all our authors to provide clean HTML for their guest posts because it makes our blog owners’ life so much easier.

Mind that this tutorial is especially useful if you are using Microsoft Word or any other similar editor to write your content. If you are like me and write your articles right in the HTML editor (like Dreamweaver), the process is much easier for you.

Also, we’ve been working hard to make importing from Word into MyBlogGuest gallery easier: we now remove extra dirty code and make our best to format the paragraphs, but making sure your code is clean is still essential because nothing works better than a manual review.

So enjoy!

Every Last Thursday of the Month: Guest Post Push on #MyBlogGuest

Category #MyBlogGuest Twitter Chat Posted by

We’ve been happy with how our users are getting involved with our Twitter chat sessions (Note: we hold #myblogguest Twitter chats each Thursday at 11 a.m. EDT / 3 p.m. GMT). So far we’ve only used the chats for knowledge exchange and for sharing tips.

Lat week it stuck me: why not use the chats to help promote our users’ guest posts as well!?

After all, that makes perfect sense: our chat participants will be able to see with their own eyes which guest posts are being published through MyBlogGuest, what seems to go well and what actually works!

On the other hand, blog owners and article publishers will enjoy additional exposure and traffic!

So here’s how it will work from now on:

  • Each month the moderators will go to HELP NEEDED forum and pick 10 great guest articles shared by our users;
  • We’ll link to those ten articles during our Twitter chat sessions and ask all participants to share them and comment (if they like the articles of course)
  • We’ll also discuss what’s so good about those articles and what we can learn from them (in terms of successful guest blogging strategies)

This way, we’ll learn a lot from the actual examples as well as give more so-well-deserved exposure to our awesome users!

What are your thoughts?

Create a Video Screencast (Tutorial) : Win $1000!

Category General Posted by

Our spring official contest is one with the twist: to participate, you need to make a video screencast of how you are using *any* feature of MyBlogGuest.

Here’s a good example.

You can have a voice explanation or simply screencast what you are doing (with no or any sound). Once you have a video, simply upload it to Youtube and share here.

The one wins who gets most views to his/her video. BUT there will also be editorial picks who will win cash prizes as well! We are going to give away a lot of cash!

***Get Traffic and Links! Win Cash!

  • Traffic! Each and every video will be promoted on our official blog as well as from our various social media profiles. You know I quite good at promoting, right?
  • Links! You’ll get full credit (with the link to your preferred home page)
  • Cash! We’ll make sure to appreciate your efforts!

*** How to Participate:

  • Create the video screencast (make it as attractive as you want / can)
  • Upload to Youtube (feel free to link to MyBlogGuest in the description as well as your own website). Preferably include “MyBlogGuest” or “My Blog Guest” or MyBlogGuest.com” in the title
  • Post the link to the video + the link to your home page (feel free to include the preferred anchor text for me to link to)

Note: We might edit your video a bit (like we did here), e.g. to make it shorter. In this case we’ll count views to our video as well as your video together (you’ll win in any case!)

*** Here are a few tutorials on making a screencast: you’ll see it is quite easy!

Tip: If you are the only one to participate in the contest, YOU’ll win all the prizes.

Easy Content Ideas for Difficult Niches

Category General Posted by

Easy Content Ideas for Difficult NichesConsidering that our past three #myblogguest Twitter chats were about content ideas and strategy brainstorming (where we tried to show all our followers that you *can* provide great content in *any* niche, I thought this guest article by Kate, while not necessarly about *guest* blogging could be a good follow up. Enjoy!

When launching a content-focused website in today’s virtual landscape of millions of sites and billions of pages on the internet, many developers are turning to the niches that, because of their oddness, rarity or simple lack of information, have proven to be underserved.

While this provides an upper hand when it comes to search engine optimization and keyword focus, difficult niches often prove equally difficult to create content for.

If your chosen niche gives you instant writer’s block when you sit down with the intention of creating content for it, utilize these general content framework rules in order to better visualize the many types of less obvious but equally appealing content that you can develop for your website. The Guest Article Quality Assurance – Flowchart

Category General Posted by

Moderating our Articles Gallery to make sure all the content there meets our requirements is not easy. We have to explain what the “quality” is again and again.

At home I have the quality assurance flowchart created on my white board – you can see the screenshot here. Now I have created a prettier version of it which you can download and give to your content writers or use yourself. It helps to better understand what we are up for: Read more »
