Update: Plugin Feedback so Far

Our users are pretty much excited as well! There were a few instances when the plugin won’t work (mostly, hosting setup issues or other plugin issues), so we are collecting data now for the next release!

Here’s what people say:

  • It’s been downloaded and used already! Looks awesome Ann, very, VERY, nice idea! Hopefully I get more offers accepted 😉 James
  • This is great to have the MyBlogGuest WordPress Plugin.I have already installed it in my blog. I have also published one article about this release.
  • Another thorough review from the happy user: Search for Guest Posts and Publish with Ease via the MyBlogGuest Plugin
  • OMG. I rarely comment on things like this but I just ‘had’ to write to tell you what a brilliant idea this is – truly innovative in an online world that’s full of so-called good ideas that simply aren’t. This Plugin will save me so much time and will give my readers fresh content from some great writers. Mark
  •  First of all – I LOVE IT!  Very much needed.  However, the one thing I would love to have is the word count in the plugin page.  I won’t offer on any article below 500 words. Mark

TO-DO List:

  • Author names in the table should be the link to their profiles on MBG (opening in a new window)
  • Add number of words in the overall table of the results and preview
  • (We have asked many times about this one already): “One thing I think would be important is a note to say that you have made an offer against the posts that you do.”
  • Handle image attachments. Authors may have images attached to the articles. They upload them to MBG server. Is there any way to import them as well? Maybe even re-host them on the blog?
  • (?) Plugin compatibility. Some people using SEO plugins (like All In One SEO) are asking to import the author’s meta description as welldd number of words in the overall table of the results and preview
  • Add the ability to rate authors

I can’t get this plugin to work at all. I have even deleted it and reinstalled it. It keeps telling me I have to login, even though I have… or I get I need to provide an API Secret Key…. Where do I get that?
I sent a note hours ago for help on this but haven’t heard anything back….

Hey, in the initial setup section of the plugin, there is a message:

Login to MyBlogGuest – If you don’t have an account already visit MyBlogGuest
Copy and paste this Redirect URL into MyBlogGuest:

Then it gives a URL…Where do i paste this? It says into myblogguest but i dont know where exactly.

    Back again…
I have to add some suggestions after working with the plugin. Please delete this if needed as it is only a suggestion.

    1. I have multiple site so it would be good to only see what articles are approved for each site.. At the moment I am seeing all articles given to me and can easily send any of these to the draft section of any website.
    2. In the articles given to me I am still seeing ones I have published a while back. Maybe these could be moved to an archive for the site.
    3. When I press “notify myblogguest of published” it does that but it does not seem that the url is saved… I have not been game to test this. I have been saving this manually myself.
    4. It would be nice to import tags and description too. But maybe I am asking too much!

I am here with these suggestions as I cannot live without this plugin now!! I can see the potential and love it!

      1) This bug is being fixed already!
      2) We’ll take a look in that!
      3) We’ll test that as well
      4) We are trying to figure out how / where to import those (especially the descriptions) and also see if WordPress will let us do!

      THANKS!

Fabulous plugin and I’m sure it will make my job easier. 🙂

One feature I’d like to see added is when it comes to showing me a list of articles due to be published, it shows me a list of EVERY article for all of my blogs, would it be possible to only show me articles due to be published depending on what blog admin panel I am looking at?

For example if I log in to my AutoNovices blog and check I only want to see articles due to be published on that blog. 🙂

Hi – I have to add actually that after about a month of using this plugin, it’s been hit and miss.
I get email notifications stating so and so has posted an article on your blog ….please login to your blog dashboard.
However there is no article in “articles given to me” or anywhere else for that matter.
So I’m left to decline something I can’t see.
I know I can contact the writer and go down that path but when you’re doing this regularly it’s time consuming.
End result is I have to email you each time as my account is flagged for not publishing or declining it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Hey Rob, we are talking about MBG Direct here: When you receive an article directly, you are supposed to see it in the article list.

Since the plugin is very new, I am not really sure how it behaves with the DIRECT system. I am looking into this!

Thanks for testing it with us!

Sure – yes – I’m talking about the plugin also, just sometimes articles that are offered don’t appear in the backend,.. maybe teething problems,

Thanks – its great at requesting articles though..Just when you have a few different niche sites it would be useful to not receive say christmas articles given to me in my weight loss websites backend if you get my gist..thanks.\\\

WordPress tells me there is an update to the plugin, and provides a link to download the new version. As this does not update automaticly, dO you have updating instructions. Do I delete the old plugin and install the new? Will the same file word for all my blogs, or do I have do download from inside myguestblog website?

    Reply
    • Ann Smarty

Right now it happens manually. So don’t delete old files, simply install new ones (for each blog) and WP will figure it.

Sorry for the trouble. You’ll need to bear with us a bit before we make it a perfect one 🙂

Hi, I think guest posting is must for branding the company in front of the more visitor and earn respect from them. Hence, I want to start Guest Blogging Post in your Website but I am not quite sure how to do it. Please give guidelines for my questions i.e. how long the article and the title should be, how many hyperlinks can I use? And where send the post whether to your mail or directly to your website?
    Thank you in advance!!
I am waiting for your positive reply

Ann, big fan. Receiving a nagging error message, even after upgrading to the new version: My error log is filled with this:
PHP Warning: json_decode() expects parameter 1 to be string, array given in /home/blahblah/public_html/wp-content/plugins/my-blog-guest/includes/agtm_page.php on line 160

I just installed it on my site, except now it’s telling me that I need an API code. But when I try to verify the auto generated one, it’s telling me that the token has expired. Is there an easy way I wonder? 🙁 It says I can get another one on the MyBlogGuest website, but there’s no link pointing me to that page where I can get one…does this mean I have to re-download the plugin?

I couldn’t make an offer to a post from my mobile. But after installing this plugin, it does the job so easily. Now I can offer all articles without any hassle.

I’m confused and can’t seem to find an answer. I downloaded the plug-in and it works just fine. However, it does not alert me to any new posts awaiting approval and my MyGuestBlog account doesn’t have any messages that I have a new article waiting moderation. For example, someone submitted a new article yesterday. I just happened upon it today but can’t find a way to contact the author to let him know when it will be published. Am I the only one with this problem? Are there any how-tos that I don’t know about?

    Loving this plug-in, Ann.

Not planning to turn my site into a “guest-post” farm; however, will be useful to access the material directly from inside the WordPress framework.

    Thanks,

    Hi there,
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but each time I try to send an offer I receive: “Sorry, but your blog does not meet the requirements of MBG system” Can somebody please explain to me what this means? I can’t find any further information?

    Many thanks

Also… In trying to preview I am receiving this error code:
Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when safe_mode is enabled or an open_basedir is set in /home/XXXXX/public_html/XXXXXXXXXXXXX.com/wp-content/plugins/my-blog-guest/common.php on line 87

What am I supposed to do to correct this please? Sorry, I’m still getting the hang of wordpress! 🙂

    Thank you!!!

I am using the blog linked to from this post, and I see. It wasn’t all that clear that a blog had to be higher ranked to be able to use the plugin. Ah well. Maybe I’ll be able to use it someday… Many thanks anyways 🙂

Your site is a bit too new for the general category. But you can use the Infographics gallery and the upcoming eBook gallery while building it up!

Seems to be working for me. At least in terms of technicalities.
The feature that would make it really amazing is being able to block the site that you already published your site on.

Hi there this is kind of of off topic but I was
wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.

I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get
guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
